M/S Wasa Express
M/S Wasa Express: lithium battery-powered ferry
The Wasaline ferry is fitted with lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO4) from Super B, which in a so-called Blackout can supply energy to the most important pumps on board. This means that Wasa Express can sail with only one generator, instead of two.
This Wasaline ferry was optimized for energy efficiency by eMarine in 2019. The work included optimization and automatization of HVAC, pump control and engine room ventilation, as well as heat recovery and cargo space heating.
These modifications help save 2633 tons of CO2, 3740MWh electricity and 823 tons of fuel every year.
